Когда использовать correct, right и true
Correct и right пересекаются в значении «правильный», но correct обычно звучит точнее и формальнее, а right ещё означает «подходящий» или «нужный». True говорит о соответствии фактам и противопоставляется false — «ложный».

Correct — правильный без ошибки

Correct особенно часто используется в обучении, инструкциях, расчётах, документах и технических контекстах.
Right — правильный или подходящий

- Am I right in thinking that you're leaving?
Right шире correct: оно может оценивать не только точность, но и соответствие ситуации.
True — истинный, соответствующий фактам
- Is the story true?

- It's based on a true story.
- The rumours turned out to be true.
Если вопрос состоит в том, произошло ли что-то на самом деле или соответствует ли утверждение реальности, обычно нужен true.
Correct answer или right answer?
Оба варианта нормальны:
- What's the correct answer?
- What's the right answer?
- You got all the answers right.
- Only one answer is correct.
Correct звучит немного формальнее и сильнее фокусируется на объективной правильности. Right очень естественен в обычной речи.
True answer возможно в специальных контекстах как «правдивый ответ», но это не стандартная замена correct/right answer в тесте.
True используется с фактами и утверждениями
- a true statement;
- a true story;
- a true account of events;
- Is it true that he resigned?
- The claim is partly true.
Is that right? часто означает «Правда? / Я правильно понял?». Is that true? сильнее проверяет фактическую истинность самого утверждения.
Right = подходящий, нужный
- Is this the right size?
- We haven't found the right candidate yet.
- Now isn't the right time.
- You came to the right place.
- Choose the right tool for the job.
The right person for the job означает подходящего человека, а не человека без ошибок.
You are right и you are correct
- You're right. — Ты прав.
- You are correct. — Вы правы / это верно; формальнее.
- You were right about him. — Ты был прав насчёт него.
В обычном разговоре You're right значительно естественнее, чем формальное You are correct.

A true friend — настоящий, искренний друг. Здесь true означает genuine, а не просто «фактически правильный».
